Welcome to The Entermind Nexus

Entermind’s corporate culture can be summarized in as few as two statements:

1. We love music and sound.
2. We love video games and media that promote interactivity.

As musicians and engineers who know games, we believe that our unique understanding of users’ audio expectations--together with our creative and technical expertise--give us a competitive edge when it comes to interactive sound and non-linear media. Entermind was founded in the winter of 2009 and registered as a Delaware corporation in the summer of 2009 by composer Justin D. Scott while working as composer-in-residence at EARS, a major New York studio owned by sonic wizard and synthesizer guru Jeff Blenkinsopp (known for his work with Pink Floyd, Vangelis, ELP, and more).

Justin D. Scott is the president of Entermind as well as an avid composer, pianist, and engineer. He is a certified Pro Tools Operator, a full member of AES (Audio Engineering Society), and an Associate Member of the Recording Academy that votes to select GRAMMY award recipients. He was born in Queens, NY, and began playing the piano at age 5, after which he quickly decided to devote his studies to music, often practicing 8-10 hours per day. His first teacher was Lorraine Cich in Westchester Country, NY. During high school, Justin began using MIDI to write his first pieces using virtual instruments, and arranged the music for his high school band.

In preparation for entrance auditions into music school, Justin enrolled to study with Ray McIntyre (former chair of the piano faculty at the Vienna conservatory) in San Jose, California. Justin studied piano at NYU with Fabio Gardinal and composition with the contemporary composer, Louis Karchin. His formal training concluded with a brief period studying performance under Hans Boepple in Santa Clara, CA, and also studying Jazz with Martin Mann. Justin has worked as a piano teacher, composer, vocal accompanist, classical performer, and session musician. He also holds a degree in audio engineering from Full Sail University in Orlando, FL.

Justin’s passion for video games emerged as early as his love for music. As a small child, when he was not at the piano he could be found programming text adventures in BASIC for his Apple II. His involvement in the video game industry started during his travels with his father, Daryl Scott, to computer shows such as MacWorld. While working at the trade shows for his father’s software company, Justin networked with the developers of his favorite games and landed lucrative work as a tester for games by such companies as Silicon Beach, Mindscape, Broderbund, 3DO, and Crystal Dynamics. Justin’s understanding of the gaming industry and platform-specific technical certification requirements has resulted in contracted work for major video game developers such as Electronic Arts, with credited titles like John Madden Football, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, and the FIFA Street series.

While earning his audio engineering degree at Full Sail University, Justin worked as the Composition Library Manager and helped to create a library of music for use in video games and films. Aside from composing music for the library and networking to increase awareness of the project, Justin also acted as the database manager. Justin's second degree is a Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University.

After moving to New York City, Justin worked at Skyline Studios NYC for Jonathan Mover (drummer for Joe Satriani and Aretha Franklin, among others) and performed a variety of assistant or engineering duties on sessions with the Astoria Symphony Orchestra, Carol Morgan Choir, Jack Bruce, Mike Stern, Richard Belzer, Government Mule, and Nina Sky. Soon after, Justin met KiNo, Poet of Sound and Image, and left Skyline to work at EARS for KiNo’s producer, Jeff Blenkinsopp, the legendary synthesizer guru who worked with Pink Floyd, ELP, and Vangelis. Recent projects have included original compositions for The Keyboard Museum in midtown Manhattan and working on the live KiNo show as a keyboardist and engineer. Additional projects have included mastering music for Yankee Stadium and other various pieces for Carmen Consentino (Bill Haley’s Comets), working with video game/film composer Jesper Kyd on game and game-related projects, and engineering recordings for Onnie McIntyre (Average White Band) and Joe Sztabnik (New York Junk).
